DNA and the AKC
Majestic Joy Papillons is an active participant in the AKC's DNA Certification Program. This program is an example of the AKC's commitment to add essential and important documentation of purebred dogs in its registry; it is that state-of-art method of identification. This DNA Certification Program guarantees continuity from one generation to the next and eliminates all concerns regarding parentage. The result offer an unquestioned integrity of registration. The DNA program gives an absolute identification of the animal and while guaranteeing the integrity of the program, provides peace of mind for owners.

The DNA sample is collected simply, easily and painlessly. The dog's inside cheek is swabbed. The sample is sent to the AKC where a lab processes and records the results. All samples become the property of the AKC and are used for parentage verification and genetic identification purposes. The DNA Profile Number is added to the dog's registration record and appears on all Registration Certificates and Pedigrees issued in the future. Majestic Joy is pleased to be a participant in this fine and responsible program which guarantees the integrity of our breed.

AVID Microchip ID
Majestic Joy Papillons comply with AKC'S regulations and requirements for record keeping and identification. To fulfill our duties as a responsible breeder and to maintain breed integrity, we are proud to report that our Papillons are identified with the breakthrough technology of the AVID MicroChip I.D. AVID is an AKC approved chip. AVID is a permanent, reliable and humane means of identification; it's sterile, safe and easy. The AVID chip can also be used with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and Canine Eye Research Foundation (CERF) forms. We test parents of our Papillons for progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) and patella luxation (PL). All exams are performed by certified veterinarians. By using the AVID chip the results can be registered.

Their customer service center has proven to be dedicated in delivering quick and accurate information to their clients. On site at Majestic Joy we have an AVID Microchip I.D. Scanner. Owners of a Majestic Joy Papillon can be secure knowing that their new family member can easily be tracked in case of an emergency. You can also register your Papillon in AVID'S recovery network. This is a positive example our commitment to integrity as we raise and show Papillons. We are dedicated to preserving and protecting this wonderful breed, in our pursuit of excellence.

Tattoo Identification
Majestic Joy Papillons is an authorized agent for the TaToo-A-Pet company, located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. At Majestic Joy, our older Papillons are also identified with a tattoo. We identify only our older dogs; we do not recommend tattooing very small, young puppies. This tattoo is done as an added protection incase a dog needs to be identified and a microchip identification scanner is not available. We recommend doing all you can to protect your Papillon's identity, should it become lost or stolen. Most veterinarians and shelters will look for a tattoo if they do not have a microchip scanner. We offer this service to any breed of dog because it gives peace of mind knowing your dog can be identified and you can claim legal proof of ownership though a visible, registered method.
